Dyslexia Rapporteur Group to visit Bangor University

The Dyslexia Rapporteur Group, made up of members of the Enterprise and Learning Committee of the National Assembly for Wales is to visit the Dyslexia Unit in the School of Psychology and the Welsh Centre for Promoting the Incredible Years Programme at Bangor University on Friday January 18th.

The cross party group of AMs (Alun Cairns, Jeff Cuthbert, Janet Ryder and Kirsty Williams) will visit the Dyslexia Unit to learn more about Dyslexia research in the school, Welsh-medium tools for assessment and the resources available for teaching and assessment. The AMs will meet with parents and teachers of pupils with dyslexia.

This will be followed by a visit to the Welsh Centre for promoting the Incredible Years Programme also based at the university.  Developed in Seattle, USA, the Incredible Years Programme comprises three linked programmes for children, teachers and parents that are designed to help children with conduct disorders and their families.

Members have previously visited the Cardiff Dore Centre, Deeside College, British Dyslexics, Ysgol Bryn Coch (a dyslexia friendly school) and the Daniel Owen Centre where they were shown Fast For Word, an IT package which helps dyslexic people.
