Presiding Officer Rosemary Butler AM has, on behalf of all Assembly Members and staff, issued a good luck message to Wales’s football and rugby teams ahead of key games this weekend.

The Welsh rugby team will face Ireland in what is being billed as their biggest game in 30 years at the Rugby World Cup tomorrow morning.

While Gary Speed’s Welsh football team will hope to continue on their improved run of form with a victory against Switzerland at Swansea’s Liberty Stadium tonight.

“On behalf of all Assembly Members and staff, I would like to wish everyone in the Welsh squad the best of luck for tomorrow’s game,” said Mrs Butler.

“Their performances in the World Cup so far have lit up the nation and we all hope they can progress further in the competition.

“Our footballers have also been recognised for good performances in recent games and we hope they can continue this rich vein of form against Switzerland.”
