King of Lesotho visits National Assembly for Wales
His Majesty King Letsie III of Lesotho visited the National Assembly for Wales in Cardiff Bay on Thursday November 13. The King’s visit to the Senedd was one of a number of engagements His Majesty was undertaking during a four day tour of Wales.
Presiding Officer of the Assembly, Lord Dafydd Elis Thomas AM, said:
“It was a great honour for the National Assembly for Wales to welcome His Majesty King Letsie III, on this, his first historic visit to Wales. The visit was an ideal opportunity to build upon the longstanding strong links which have already been established between Wales and Lesotho, not only for the past nine years since the formation of this Assembly, but with the range and scope of Dolen Cymru’s excellent work over the last twenty five years."
During his visit His Majesty had a meeting with John Griffiths AM, Deputy Minister for Skills to discuss links between Lesotho and schools in Wales. Joining the Minister were teachers and pupils who have visited Lesotho.
After the meeting, His Majesty exchanged gifts and was given a tour of National Assembly for Wales and observed a meeting of the Children and Young People Scrutiny Committee.
