National Assembly Committee invites the public to ask the First Minister

18 June 2013

A National Assembly for Wales Committee is inviting people to suggest questions for Members to ask the First Minister, Carwyn Jones AM, in a forthcoming meeting.

The Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister will meet at the Stiwt Theatre in Rhosllanerchrugog, Wrexham at 09.45 on Friday, 19 July.

From today, Tuesday 18 June, the Committee is inviting questions for the First Minister via Twitter using #FMWQT, and those posted to the National Assembly’s Facebook page: www.facebook.com/nationalassemblyforwales.

The meeting will focus on major infrastructure projects with a particular emphasis on examples in North Wales including rail electrification, A55 improvements and nuclear and renewable energy.

Only questions relevant to this policy area will be considered and up to five questions will be chosen which will supplement the Members’ own questions to the First Minister.

“This is an opportunity for people in Wales to ask their questions directly of the First Minister for Wales,” said David Melding AM, Chair of the Committee for the Scrutiny of the First Minister.

“Social networks are a powerful tool for talking to and exploring ideas with people so the Committee is keen to use these channels to involve the Welsh public in our work.

“My fellow Committee Members and I are looking forward to finding out what people would like us to ask.”

The meeting is open to the public and there will be an open mic session at the end of formal proceedings for attendees to ask questions of or put comments to the Committee.

Anyone wishing to attend the meeting should contact the National Assembly booking line on 0845 010 5500 or email assembly.bookings@wales.gov.uk.
