National Assembly flies flag for Armed Forces Week

The National Assembly for Wales is marking Armed Forces Week by flying the forces flag over its estate in Cardiff and Colwyn Bay.

“Armed Forces Week marks the sacrifice made by the thousands of men and women who have served, or are currently serving, in our Armed Forces,” said Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM.

“Let us not forget that many have made the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the democratic freedoms that we take for granted today.

“It is important to me as Presiding Officer that the National Assembly ensures that the dedication and sacrifices made by servicemen and women are marked each year during Armed Forces Week as well as Remembrance Day.

“Like so many, I have been touched by conflict, so it is important to me personally that we recognise those who serve by flying the Armed Forces flag over the Assembly’s estate.”
