National Assembly for Wales Committee holds meeting at Royal Welsh Show

25 July 2012

The National Assembly for Wales’s Environment and Sustainability Committee will be holding a formal meeting at the Royal Welsh Show in Llanelwedd on Wednesday 25 July.

Members of the Committee will have an opportunity to question the Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Food, Fisheries and European Programmes, Alun Davies AM, on general issues relating to his portfolio and the Glastir programme.

The Committee is currently undertaking an inquiry into the Welsh Government’s agri-environment scheme, Glastir.

The purpose of the inquiry is to:

  • assess the progress made by the Welsh Government on the delivery of the scheme;

  • gather stakeholder views on the scheme and how it could be improved;

  • and make recommendations to the Welsh Government on the delivery of the scheme.

“The Royal Welsh Show is a significant event in the Welsh agricultural calendar, said the Chair of the Environment and Sustainability Committee, Lord Elis-Thomas.

“We are extremely pleased to be holding a formal meeting of the Environment and Sustainability Committee at this year’s show and we look forward to questioning the Deputy Minister on a range of issues, including the Glastir programme.

“Visiting the show ground at Llanelwedd also allows us as Committee members to meet with a wide range of stakeholders from across Wales.”
