National Assembly for Wales joins Investors in People elite

4 June 2010

The National Assembly for Wales has become only the third organisation in Wales to be awarded Investors in People gold status.

The achievement means the Assembly is one of currently around 25 public sector bodies to reach this standard for its policies on training, support and investment in employees.

“This is a wonderful achievement for the Assembly and the people who work here,” said Claire Clancy, Chief Executive and Chief Clerk of the Assembly.

“We are delighted to become the first legislative body in the UK to reach this standard.

“This is a testament to our vision of providing a place where employees are recognised for the hard work they put in and supported with all the necessary tools to develop their career.

“This demonstrates what I have always felt myself, that the National Assembly is a positive and vibrant place to work.

“We must now work towards not just sustaining this standard, but finding new ways of improving the way we work.”

Chris Humphries CBE, Chief Executive of the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, said: “The National Assembly for Wales achieved Investors in People’s new Gold status due to its excellent leadership and role models from the very top of the organisation, and because of its commitment to advanced learning and career development.

“And because of the great pride, enthusiasm and loyalty of the people who work there, they are to be heartily congratulated.”

The UK Commission for Employment and Skills is responsible for the strategic ownership of Investors in People.
