Presiding Officer backs Wales’s rugby team for Grand Slam glory

16 March 2012

The National Assembly for Wales’s Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, is backing Wales’s rugby team to overcome the French challenge on Saturday (17 March) and march to Grand Slam glory.

The Welsh team has to beat France, in their last game of the championship, at the Millennium Stadium, in order to make it a third Six Nations Grand Slam in eight years.

“I am sure that the whole of Wales will come to a standstill on Saturday afternoon in support of the team. If we win, it will be a fantastic and deserving result after a wonderful tournament, ” said Mrs Butler.

“To achieve three Grand Slams in eight years will be a huge achievement that will put these players on the same level as the greats from the seventies.

“So on behalf of all Assembly Members and staff, I would like to wish the team all the best ahead of the game.”
