Presiding Officer congratulates Cardiff City on reaching top flight

The National Assembly for Wales’s Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, has congratulated Cardiff City FC on clinching promotion to the Premiership.

“This is great news for the fans of Cardiff, to finally see their team clinch promotion to the top flight after coming so close over the last four years,” the Presiding Officer said.

“They have suffered play-off heartache three times during that period but under the stewardship of Malky Mackay they have shown the resolve and winning habit that sees them promoted with three games still left to play.

“I’m sure the team will now go on and win the title, as it always sounds better being promoted as champions.

“It’s also another great result in what is fast becoming one of the greatest years for Welsh football. I wish Cardiff City and their fans all the best in the Premier League next season.”
