Presiding Officer congratulates Newport County on promotion to Football League

The National Assembly for Wales’s Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, has congratulated Newport County on clinching promotion to the Football League in their Wembley play-off victory against Wrexham.

“It was great to have two Welsh teams in the final for yet another key date in what has become one of Welsh football’s greatest ever years,” said the Presiding Officer

“Sadly one team had to lose and miss out on promotion but I wish Newport County all the best in the Football League next season.

“It’s great for fans and great news for Welsh football.”
