The National Assembly for Wales's Presiding Officer, Dame Rosemary Butler AM, has laid a wreath at the Menin Gate to mark the sacrifice made by millions of soldiers in the First World War.
She joined a delegation of Speakers and deputy Speakers from the UK and Ireland's parliaments at the ceremony.
The delegation were guests of the Flemish Parliament, and visited the Flemish Parliament for a Commemoration ceremony and also the Memorial Museum Passchendaele in Zonnebeke.
"Many of us have a personal link to the brave men who made the ultimate sacrifice on the battlefields of the First World War," said Dame Rosemary.
"My great uncle, John William Peacey, lost his life during that war, one of the millions cut down in their youth.
"It is a great honour for me to be invited to lay a wreath, on behalf of the National Assembly, at the Menin Gate - perhaps one of the most poignant memorials of that great sacrifice."
The Presiding Officer was joined by National Assembly for Wales Commissioners, Sandy Mewies AM and Rhodri Glyn Thomas AM, as well as the deputy Speakers of the Scottish Parliament and Northern Ireland Assembly, and the Speaker of the Irish Parliament and Chairman of the Irish Seanad.
