Presiding Officer to welcome new apprentices to Senedd as pilot scheme begins

5 September 2012

The National Assembly for Wales’s Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, will welcome four new apprentices to the Senedd, on 6 September.

The four young people are benefiting from a pilot scheme, being introduced by the National Assembly for Wales, to recognise the potential of young people in the work place.

They have been invited, along with family and friends, to join the Presiding Officer in the Senedd for an official welcome.

“With youth unemployment running at such a high level in the current economic climate, we should all do everything we can to try to offer some young people the opportunity to develop their skills through work opportunities.” said Mrs Butler.

“This is the first apprenticeship scheme to be run by the National Assembly and is a recognition of the potential of young people while helping them to experience what it’s like to be in a place of work, while gaining a qualification in a structured training programme.

“I am delighted to welcome our four newest recruits, along with their families, to the Senedd on what will hopefully be the beginning of a long and fruitful career for all of them.”
