The National Assembly for Wales’s Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM, is backing Newport County AFC for Wembley glory on Saturday (12 May).

They take on York City in the Football Association Trophy final at Wembley.

“I, like thousands of fans from Newport, will be travelling to Wembley on Saturday to support the team,” said Mrs Butler , who is also the Assembly Member for Newport West.

“They have done the city and Wales proud by reaching a Wembley final and hopefully they can lift the trophy.

“Their success has added to a fantastic year for Welsh sport in general, but come Saturday, it will be Newport all the way and fingers crossed, everyone in Newport will have a spring in their step on Sunday morning.”
