The National Assembly's Scrutiny of the First Minister Committee will be meeting to discuss the Welsh economy at 10.00 on Friday 14 July in Bangor.
Ahead of the development of a new Economic Strategy for Wales later in the year, the Committee, which is made up of all National Assembly committee chairs and chaired by the Deputy Presiding Officer, Ann Jones AM, will be raising issues of key importance with the First Minister of Wales, Carwyn Jones AM.
The strategy is being developed at a point when the Welsh economy faces a number of challenges, some of which are shared with the rest of the UK and some of which are unique to Wales:
Wales has a lower Gross Value Added (GVA) per person when compared with the other devolved nations and regions of England;
Many communities still struggle with the effects of deindustrialisation, and poverty and inequality are persistent challenges; and
The short and longer-term impacts of Brexit on the economy remain highly uncertain.
"With Brexit looming and the uncertainty it is creating the Welsh economy is in a delicate balance," said Ann Jones AM.
"We will be seeking to ensure the First Minister and his government are utilising the powers they have to grow a stronger economy which benefits all of Wales.
"The development of a new Economic Strategy for Wales is an important step and we intend to fully explore the thinking behind the Welsh Government's decisions."
People can attend the meeting at Bangor University's Management Centre, or follow proceedings via the National Assembly's video website Senedd TV.
