Terry Waite backs Committee’s bid to increase profile on world stage

The National Assembly’s European and External Affairs Committee will be at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod this Thursday, July 9th.

Chair of the Committee, Delyn Assembly Member Sandy Mewies, and Committee Members will be joined at the National Assembly for Wales Stand (43) by key speakers - Terry Waite CBE, Eisteddfod President, and Executive Director, Mervyn Cousins.

The Chair will speak about the Committee’s external relations role, followed by a short Q & A session. The President of the International Musical Eisteddfod will also speak about its International Youth Day theme – ‘One World, One Vision, One Youth’. An international competitor from the Hong Kong Conservatoire will be at the stand to give a short performance.

“I am very pleased to be able to visit the International Eisteddfod this year and we are keen to let people know a little bit more about the work of the European and External Affairs Committee, especially its external relations role,” said Sandy Mewies, Delyn AM.

“The way the Assembly looks outwards to the rest of the world is an important part of the committee’s work and we want to ensure that Welsh interests are being represented on the world stage in the best way possible.”

Visitors wishing to submit a question for the session should hand it to a member of staff on the stand by 10.30 am. The event will run from 11.15 – 12.15.
