Urdd Eisteddfod visitors have their say on the National Assembly

1 June 2012

Children and young people visiting the Urdd National Eisteddfod in Eryri next week will have an opportunity to learn more about the work of the National Assembly for Wales and meet some Assembly Members on the ‘maes’ on the Glynllifon Estate, near Caernarfon.

The Assembly’s Outreach bus will be on site providing a wealth of interesting activities to children and adults of all ages on the theme of ‘Democracy in Action in Wales’.

On the same theme, young photographers will be encouraged to enter the National Assembly’s newly-launched photography competition, which encourages amateur and professional photographers to submit images that reflect Wales during this exciting period in the history of Welsh devolution.

One of the highlights of the week will be the ‘Members’ Wall’ outside the bus. Visitors will be able to search for their Assembly Members on a large map of Wales and then leave them a message on an issue of their choice. The information will be fed back to the Members after the Eisteddfod.

Throughout the week young people can enjoy various quizzes and games while learning more about the National Assembly for Wales and how they can influence its work. In addition, each visitor to the bus who fills in a feedback form will be entered into a competition for an opportunity to win a digital camera.
