Wales' Coming of Age! Win tickets for landmark concert to mark anniversaries of its cultural and political hubs

The National Assembly for Wales and Wales Millennium Centre are both marking key anniversaries this year.

It’s the 10th anniversary of devolution in Wales whilst Wales Millennium Centre is marking its 5th Birthday.

That’s why the two bodies are working together to put on a landmark concert on November 14, 2009 to mark these two key milestones.

And the National Assembly for Wales is giving away two pairs of tickets for this momentous event which will take place on November 14, 2009

“Devolution is not about the National Assembly and its sixty members,” said Presiding Officer Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas.

“It’s about increasing participation in the political process and getting as many people in Wales to have a say in the future of the country.

“Therefore it’s only right that people from all parts of Wales come and join us as we mark 10 years of devolution with a musical celebration.”

The concert will feature new work from world-renowned Welsh composer Karl Jenkins – including a special composition to mark the 10th year of the National Assembly for Wales.

It will also mark the composer’s 65th birthday and will feature some of Karl Jenkins’s best-known works, including excerpts from the million-selling Adiemus: Songs of Sanctuary, Requiem and the Armed Man.

There’ll also be performances from international soprano Rebecca Evans, harpist Catrin Finch and singer Elin Fflur.

For a chance to win a pair of tickets people will need to answer the following questions:

  1. In which year was the Senedd building opened?

  2. Who is the National Assembly’s Presiding Officer?

  3. Who is the First Minister of Wales?

To enter electronically email the answers to devolution10@wales.gsi.gov.uk

Alternatively, fill in an entry form in the Senedd building (available at reception) or send answers on a postcard to the Concert 10 Competition, Natalie Drury-Styles, 3rd Floor, National Assembly for Wales, Cardiff, CF99 1NA.
