To mark 25 years of devolution in Wales, the National Library of Wales Welsh Political Archive and Wales Broadcast Archive have selected items from their collection which reflect key milestones of the Senedd’s journey so far.

This exhibition complements a timeline curated in partnership with the Wales Governance Centre which is on permanent display in the Senedd.

What is Devolution?

Devolution is the transfer of power to a more local level.

Since 1999, certain powers have been transferred from the UK Government to the Welsh Government and from the UK Parliament to the Welsh Parliament.

Now many of the decisions about Wales, are made in Wales, including education, healthcare and transport.
