Public Services Ombudsman for Wales
Maximum 7 year fixed term
The Public Services Ombudsman for Wales (PSOW) has the legal powers to look into complaints about public services and independent care providers in Wales. The PSOW also investigates complaints where members of local government bodies have breached their authority’s code of conduct, it upholds justice and helps public services improve by actively listening and learning from complaints. The PSOW is independent of all government bodies and provides a free and independent service.
The current Ombudsman is due to step down from the role and we are looking for a talented leader who can build on the success he and his team have delivered during his term in office. The successful candidate for the position will have a demonstrable track record as a strategic leader, possessing strong operational management capability combined with excellent communication and analytical skills. Whether from the public or private sector you will also have a good understanding of devolved government and public services structures, and your evidenced based approach to decision making will engender confidence in stakeholders and staff alike.
This is a Crown Appointment with the successful candidate being nominated by the Senedd -Welsh Parliament and will be for a maximum period of 7 years.
