NDM4262 Chris Franks (South Wales West): Funding for you, your community, and Wales

NDM4260 Alun Cairns (South Wales West)

The National Assembly for Wales;

1. Recognises that it is vital that services for disabled children and young people are provided in a prompt and timely manner,

2. Notes with concern the current levels of delay in providing paediatric wheelchairs across Wales,

3. Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to invest sufficiently in paediatric wheelchair services to meet the current standards set out in the Children's National Service Framework.

To propose that the National Assembly, in accordance with Standing Order 35.2:

1. Considers the Report of the Business Committee laid in the Table Office on 1 July; and

2. Approves the amendments to Standing Orders set out in the Report of the Business Committee.

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales, in accordance with Standing Order 22.50, agrees that Joyce Watson may lay a proposed Order, to give effect to the outline proposed Order provided on 23 January 2009 under Standing Order 22.48, and an Explanatory Memorandum.

To propose that the Assembly resolves to adopt the following amendments to motions:

1. Peter Black (South Wales West)

In point 1, delete ‘children and young’.

2. Peter Black (South Wales West)

In point 2, delete ‘paediatric’.

3. Peter Black (South Wales West)

Add new point at end of motion:

‘Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to set a minimum standard for adult wheelchair provision, to ensure that no-onewaits longer than 12 months for a wheelchair.

To propose that the Assembly resolves to adopt the following amendments to motions:

NDM4260

1. Carwyn Jones (Bridgend)

Delete all and replace with:

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales;

1. Recognises the importance of timely and effective services for disabled children and young people,

2. Notes with concern the current levels of delay in providing paediatric wheelchairs across Wales,

3. Looks forward to the Report of the Wheelchair Services Review established by the Health and Social Services Minister,

4. Endorses the commitment to standards of paediatric wheelchair services, as set out in the Children's National Service Framework.
