Devolution a decade on - how it could have been.

NDM4208 Carwyn Jones (Bridgend)

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales, for the purposes of any provisions resulting from the Proposed National Assembly for Wales Commissioner for Standards Measure, agrees to any increase in expenditure of a kind referred to in Standing Order 23.80(i) arising in consequence thereof.

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales in accordance with Standing Order 23.95:

Agrees to the general principles of the proposed National Assembly for Wales Commissioner for Standards Measure.

The proposed National Assembly for Wales Commissioner for Standards Measure and Explanatory Memorandum were laid before the Assembly on 25 March 2009.

The National Assembly for Wales:

Supports the campaign for clearer country of origin food labelling.

NDM4211 Peter Black (South Wales West)

The National Assembly for Wales:

Calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to reverse its decision to scrap the tuition fees grant.

To propose that the National Assembly for Wales, in accordance with Standing Order 10.3, elects David Melding (Conservative) as a member of the Subordinate Legislation Committee in place of Mark Isherwood (Conservative).

To propose that the Assembly resolves to adopt the following amendments to motions:

After ‘labelling’, insert:

and urges the Welsh Government to examine the potential for a  ‘Welsh Food Kitemark’ for food products produced, processed and packed in Wales

Add new point at end of motion:

Notes with concern the potential impact the scrapping of the tutition fees grant will have on Welsh students and their studies.

2. Carwyn Jones (Bridgend)

Delete all, and replace with:

1. Recognises the budgetary constraints under which the Welsh Assembly Government's policy onstudenttuition feeshas been developed and has to operate;

2. Welcomes new proposals to alleviate student debt, to improve support to least well off students, to increase the number of graduates in the Welsh economy, and to increase the level of resources available to higher education institutions in Wales.
