2008: Women & the Vote

Calls on the National Assembly for Wales to support the launch of '2008: Women & the Vote'.

On 6th February, it will be 90 years since the Representation of the People Act granted women the right to vote and be elected to Parliament. Later in the year, it will also be 80 years since women were granted equal voting rights as men.

The Welsh Assembly recognises that women are still politically under-represented and is committed to working to ensure that by 2018, the Centenary of women winning the vote, genuine progress will have been made.
