To ask the Minister for Economy, Science and Transport

Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire): Will the Minister provide an update on the progress toward initiating the repairs to the damage to a listed wall adjacent to the A40 trunk road in Crickhowell and confirm the start date? (WAQ66757)

The Minister for Economy, Science and Transport (Edwina Hart): We have requested that the owner of the property with the damaged wall contact us to discuss a resolution as a matter of urgency.

 

Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire): Will the Minister provide further details of the new Regional Engagement Team which will come into place in September 2014 to replace the Regional Tourism Partnerships and how the team will engage with traders and local authorities at a local level? Edwina Hart: The nature of the regional structures within visit Wales is yet to be confirmed. I will make a further announcement on the revised staffing structure by the end of June.

 

Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): Will the Minister make a statement on job opportunities at Cardiff Airport with particular reference to interaction between the airport board and the Welsh Government? (WAQ66759)

Edwina Hart: Cardiff Airport is operated at arms length to Welsh Government and they are responsible for commercial activities. Cardiff Airport’s progress is monitored by the WGC Hold Co Board through submission of monthly management accounts and quarterly meetings between the Boards of WGC Hold Co and Cardiff Airport.

 

Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): Will the Minister make a statement on route development at Cardiff Airport, with particular reference to the upcoming winter schedule 2014/15? (WAQ66760)

Edwina Hart: Cardiff Airport is operated at arms length to the Welsh Government and all route development issues are a matter for them. Cardiff Airport’s progress is monitored by the WGC Hold Co Board through submission of monthly management accounts and quarterly meetings between the Boards of WGC Hold Co and Cardiff Airport.

Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): Will the Minister confirm how many ‘Technium’ buildings are still under Welsh Government ownership? (WAQ66762)

Edwina Hart: The Welsh Government exited from the Technium programme on 1 April 2011 and the buildings owned by the Welsh Government were amalgamated with the Economy Science and Transport trading portfolio.  As such, there are no longer any Welsh Government owned Techniums.

 

Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): What is the on-going annual cost to the Welsh Government of maintaining ‘Technium’ buildings and will the Minister provide current occupancy levels for each building in terms of the number of occupants and the percentage of total occupancy potential? Edwina Hart: Given that there are no longer any Welsh Government owned Techniums, there is no on-going annual cost to the Welsh Government of maintaining ‘Techniums’.

 

Andrew RT Davies (South Wales Central): Will the Minister confirm how many buildings were built for the Technium business development programme, providing the total costs incurred by the Welsh Government on construction and fitting out each building? (WAQ66764)

Edwina Hart: The Technium programme covered 11 buildings.  WAQ57236 provided the following information on the amount of Welsh Government expenditure involved in setting up the Technium network of offices around Wales: Gross capital costs associated with the network of Techniums, which includes leasehold acquisition costs, construction costs, fitting out costs and associated fees amounts to £57.5m.
