I write in response to your WAQ in which you asked for details of public expenditure in Wales as a share of GDP since 1999. I committed to respond with details of the information requested and I apologise for the delay in replying.
The table below sets out identifiable public expenditure in Wales as a percentage of Gross Value Added (GVA) for Wales. GVA is the accepted equivalent of GDP used in the Regional Accounts produced by the Office for National Statistics.

My response has been delayed to allow the information to be updated in line with the Public Expenditure Statistical Analyses for 2009 and the latest GVA figures which were released by the Office of National Statistics today.
The figures for years prior to 2003 have not been included in the table as the public expenditure data is not available on a consistent basis.
