Alun Ffred Jones (Arfon): What percentage of public sector procurement contracts are awarded to Welsh companies and what percentage of public procurement expenditure is spent on Welsh companies? (WAQ68004W)

The Minister for Finance and Government Business (Jane Hutt): Since its launch in July 2013 Welsh companies have won 68% of all contract awards published on Sell2Wales. I will announce the outcome of the 2012/13 analysis of public expenditure incurred with Welsh Companies shortly.

Eluned Parrott (South Wales Central): Has any approach been made by Rhondda Cynon Taff Council to obtain funding for the reorganisation of schools within the Rhondda and Tonyrefail areas to create specialist 6th form centres and create 3 to 16 and 3 to 19 schools? (WAQ67997)

The Minister for Education and Skills (Huw Lewis): Rhondda Cynon Taf Council have submitted a Strategic Outline Case, which is the first stage in the business case process, for the reorganisation of schools within the Rhondda and Tonyrefail area. The Strategic Outline Case refers to the rationalisation of sixth form provision and the reorganisation of its schools. Welsh Government agreed the Strategic Outline Case in July 2014.  This allows the Council to move forward to the next stage in the process, which is the Outline Business Case.

The Minister for Education and Skills (Huw Lewis): I can confirm, that at this time, no funding has been agreed by any Welsh Government source for the reorganisation of schools within the Rhondda and Tonyrefail area.

 

Eluned Parrott (South Wales Central): What funding has been agreed from the 21st century Schools programme for projects within Rhondda Cynon Taff over the past 12 months? (WAQ67999)

The Minister for Education and Skills (Huw Lewis): I can confirm that funding was agreed from the 21st Century Schools Programme in August 2014 for the Y Pant Comprehensive project. This scheme will refurbish and rebuild the existing school. The total project cost is £24m, £12 million of which is provided by the Welsh Government.
