To ask the Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty

Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire): Does the Minister intend to introduce a pay-to-stay scheme for social housing tenants in Wales? (WAQ69646)

Answer received on 21 January 2016

The Minister for Communities and Tackling Poverty (Lesley Griffiths): No.

Kirsty Williams (Brecon and Radnorshire): Will the Minister make a statement on the ability of local communities to protect village pubs as community assets? (WAQ69647)

Answer received on 19 January 2016

Lesley Griffiths:

The Welsh Government recognises village pubs are often regarded as community assets. Local pubs can and do provide a focal point for communities, a place to meet and socialise., therefore I included community pubs in the work undertaken on Assets of Community Value.  I fully expect pubs to be included in any future Welsh scheme to protect community assets.

On 7 December I published a Written Statement on Assets of Community Value. This provided an update on the responses to the Protecting Community Assets consultation which closed on 11 September 2015. The Written Statement can be found at:
