Work Opportunity: Caseworker for Mair Rowlands MS
Salary range (pro rata): £33,233 - 42,727
All new staff are expected to enter on the scale minimum of the appropriate pay band. Individual staff will, subject to satisfactory performance, move up the incremental scale one point at a time on the anniversary of their commencement of employment until they reach the scale maximum for their band.

Main duties:
- Dealing with complex and sensitive cases, providing support and tailored solutions for constituents. This may include supporting constituents to campaign against the issues they have identified by sharing information and giving advice in relation to the legislative process, rights etc.
- Investigating matters relating to policy or legal matters affecting constituents and escalate urgent concerns to the Member.
- Drafting and sending detailed letters, reports and case summaries on behalf of the Member.
- Communicating with government departments, local councils and agencies to support constituents in solving problems.
- Escalating cases to the services of ombudsmen, Ministers, or Senedd committees when necessary.
- Developing a strong understanding of welfare, housing, immigration, healthcare and legal issues in order to better support constituents.
- Supporting junior caseworkers, providing guidance on handling cases and administrative procedures.
- Supervising the progress of high priority cases and ensuring timely responses.
- Acting within the law and the regulatory frameworks within which the Members and Groups operate, including Senedd frameworks (standards of conduct, expenditure etc.) and wider and general frameworks (legal duties).
- Undertaking other duties commensurate with this band, as required, to support the Member.
Essential knowledge and experience:
- A strong understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks within which Members and groups operate. This includes the Senedd frameworks (standards of conduct, expenditure etc.) as well as wider and general frameworks (legal duties). The ability to give informed advice to Members and colleagues on these matters.
- Legal and policy information relating to housing, welfare, health and other public services.
- Experience of being in a comparable role dealing with complex correspondence, diaries and events, within a busy office.
Essential qualifications:
· The ability to demonstrate knowledge or experience of a range of work procedures based on relevant work experience and/or vocational qualification – eg NVQ level 3 or 4 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
Evidence of numeracy and literacy skills eg GCSE Welsh / English and Maths (or equivalent) at grade C or above, or other suitable experience.
