Work Opportunity: Parliamentary Officer for Plaid Cymru Group

Salary range (pro rata): £33,233 – £42,727

All new staff are expected to enter on the scale minimum of the appropriate pay band.  Individual staff will, subject to satisfactory performance, move up the incremental scale one point at a time on the anniversary of their commencement of employment until they reach the scale maximum for their band.

Purpose of job:

A Band 2 Business Management and Administration Officer working for Senedd Group Leader undertakes a wide range of work relevant to the smooth running of the Member’s office and their daily work.  Such work may include finance, diary management, record keeping or people related work.

Main duties:

  • Assisting the Chief of Staff with administrative duties relating to the Group’s work – arranging and attending meetings and events as required, managing Group records and systems, and audit related activity to a high standard.
  • Assisting with parliamentary business – preparing speeches, questions, briefings and stock policy responses as required.
  • Assisting with communications objectives of the Group – preparing press releases, media lines and social media content as required.

Essential knowledge and experience:

  • Good analytical and research skills with the ability to draft policy responses and deal with varied correspondence.
  • Experience of working in teams, with the ability to coordinate staff, interns, and volunteers effectively.
  • Has some experience of the media landscape and of drafting press releases, media lines and social media content.

Essential qualifications:

  • Degree, NVQ (or equivalent) in a relevant subject e.g. Politics, Business or Public Administration or considerable relevant experience.
  • Appropriate professional or academic qualification or equivalent experience.
