The following is a proposal for a Member Bill tabled during the Sixth Senedd:

Title of the proposed Bill:

Sport & Facilities (Wales) Bill

Policy Objectives of the proposed Bill:

The purpose of the Bill would be to increase the quality, quantity and access to sporting facilities across Wales.

The Bill would also aim to:

  • Recognises the multitude of benefits sports and physical
    exercise brings - from tackling childhood obesity and improving mental health, to finding future sports stars.
  • Commits the Welsh Government to equality of opportunity and access to facilities across Wales
  • Commits the Welsh Government to ringfence funding and invest heavily in new and updating sporting facilities across all regions of Wales, particularly in rural areas and notably all-weather facilities such as 3G pitches.
  • To create an All-Sports advisory committee, to increase co-operation between sports in order to maximise the use of current and future facilities, and to increase participation.
  • To ensure international competition standard facilities in North Wales.
