A statement from the National Assembly’s Presiding Officer, Dame Rosemary Butler AM, in response to the Scottish referendum result

I congratulate the Scots on the high turnout in the referendum. It is encouraging to see just how many Scottish voters – some as young as 16 – have been engaged by the referendum.

Now the People of Scotland have had their say – it is crucial in what happens next that the people of Wales have an equally strong voice.

We know that there will be further changes to the shape of the UK, and that these will have an impact on Wales. I remain convinced that we need a Constitutional Convention for the UK and that it is vital that Wales is strongly represented in that process.
