21 October 2010
The National Assembly for Wales’s Health, Wellbeing and Local Government Committee has announced that it will be undertaking an inquiry into the way NHS reviews are conducted in Wales and howthe public and other stakeholders are consulted to inform the process.
The Committee will focus onreviews currently being conducted in north Wales bythe Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board into emergency general surgery and maternity and child health servicesacross the region.
Darren Millar AM, Chair of the Committee, said: “This is an important issue and the inquiry comes amid wide-ranging public concern about the future of services in north Wales.
“Among other things, we will be looking at how these reviews are carried out, how stakeholders are engaged and consulted and the extent to which such views feed into future recommendations.
