Assembly Members approve Housing and Local Government draft Order

26 February 2010

The National Assembly for Wales has passed a draft Legislative Competence Order affecting social housing in Wales.

The National Assembly for Wales (Legislative Competence Order) (Housing and Local Government) Order 2010 will mean more powers for the National Assembly to make laws in areas including social landlords, social housing tenancies, homelessness, housing allocations and housing-related support.

The draft Order will now be sent to the Secretary of State for Wales, who is responsible for laying it before Parliament for approval by both the House of Commons and House of Lords, before being given Royal approval in Privy Council.
