Assembly Members to record employment of family members

4 May 2010

Assembly Members have voted in favour of establishing new rules that govern the recording of the employment of family members.

Under existing Standing Orders Members were already compelled to register what their spouses and dependent children did for a living. That meant that if they employed their spouse to work in their Assembly office, they had to register that fact.

Now, for the first time, and under the new rules, Members will have to record if they employ family members, including brothers or sisters and nephew or niece.
