Assembly to mark Iftar with the Muslim Council for Wales

The National Assembly for Wales will celebrate Iftar on Tuesday October 2nd with a reception at the Senedd. Representatives from the Muslim and other faith communities in Wales will gather in the Oriel with the Presiding Officer and Assembly Members to celebrate the daily break of fast during the Ramadan observance. The Assembly’s Presiding Officer Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas and Saleem Kidwai, Secretary General of the Muslim Council for Wales will speak at the event. Those due to attend include the First Minister, the Archbishop of Wales and the Archbishop of Cardiff. The Presiding Officer said:  'It is an honour to welcome the Muslim Council for Wales back to the Senedd so that Assembly Members can join the Muslim community in Wales in their observance of Ramadan. The Senedd represents an open, accessible and inclusive forum for the people of Wales, in all their diversity, so it is very appropriate that we are celebrating Iftar here.'
