Chair of New Children and Young People Committee elected

The first meeting of the Assembly’s Children and Young People Committee was held at the Senedd today. The Committee’s role is to consider and report on issues affecting children and young people in Wales. It is a new Assembly committee and the decision to establish it has been taken to reflect the importance of policies for children in Wales being coordinated and responsive. Helen Mary Jones AM, who was elected as Chair of the Committee said: “I am delighted to be chairing the new Children and Young People Committee. The remit of the committee cuts across all devolved matters from Health and Education to Equality and Culture and therefore the range of responsibility is very wide. I look forward to the challenge and to working with all committee members to ensure that the needs of children and young people in Wales are fully considered in policies and decisions" More information about the Children and Young People Committee
