Committee to hear evidence from Law Society on NHS Redress (Wales) Measure 2007

The Assembly’s Subordinate Legislation Committee will continue discussing the proposed NHS Redress (Wales) Measure 2007 at its next meeting at Committee Room 3, Senedd, Cardiff on Tuesday October 09th 2007. To ensure that scrutiny of this Measure is as effective as possible, the Committee will consider contributions from both internal and external sources. At the meeting on Tuesday October 09th 2007 the Members will hear evidence from The Law Society. Chair of the Committee, Dr Dai Lloyd AM said: ”This process is proving a fascinating first use of the Committee's new powers.  Whilst there is general agreement on the principles of the legislation, we nevertheless need to ensure proper scrutiny of the powers to be delegated to Welsh Ministers to fill in the detail.  It will therefore be very useful to hear from the representative body of the solicitors who play a central role in the operation of the current process for getting redress from the NHS.” The meeting takes place at Committee Room 3, Senedd, Cardiff  between 8.15am and 9.15am on Tuesday October 09th 2007.
