Committee to take evidence from Deputy First Minister

The Deputy First Minister, Ieuan Wyn Jones AM, is to give evidence to the Assembly Sustainability Committee’s inquiry into carbon reduction in Wales.

The Committee is scrutinising the Welsh Assembly Government on their contribution to the UK carbon reduction targets and their proposals for meeting the 3% reduction targets outlined in the One Wales document.

The inquiry is being broken down into several topics for the purpose of focused evidence-gathering and the Committee is currently looking at carbon reduction by industry and public bodies.

Chair of the Committee, Mick Bates AM, said: “By reducing carbon emissions we can achieve every aspect of our environmental ambitions for Wales - we can improve our local environments, secure a green economy and ensure a more sustainable future for the generations ahead. I look forward to being able to question the Deputy First Minister on how the Government is meeting the targets in the One Wales document.”

The meeting takes place at 9.30am on Thursday December 13 in Committee Room 3, Senedd, Cardiff Bay.. More details about the Committee
