Finance Committee publishes report on Welsh Government budget
The Assembly Finance Committee has today published its report on the draft Welsh Assembly Government budget.
The Finance Committee was set up for the first time in the Third Assembly and a key part of its role is to scrutinise the budget.
Alun Cairns AM, Chair of the Committee, said: “This is first time the Finance Committee has carried out scrutiny of the budget, and I am very pleased at the constructive way the Committee and the Government have been able to work together in the interests of ensuring the budget is soundly based. As Members we have all taken the role of carrying out full and proper scrutiny very seriously and have taken evidence from Ministers, the NHS and the WLGA, as well as considering reports from other Committees. I am confident that we have produced a robust report, and I would urge the Government to consider all our recommendations very carefully.”
