Ken Skates AM given opportunity to propose a new law on care provision as Assembly Member ballot announced

19 October 2011

Ken Skates, AM for Clwyd South, will be the first non-government Assembly Member to propose a new law in the Fourth Assembly, after his name was drawn in the first Members’ ballot.

The proposal calls for a Continuity from Care into Adult Life Bill.

It will now be debated by the Assembly which will decide whether or not Mr. Skates will be allowed to introduce a Bill to give effect to his proposal.

This is the first time Members have been able to propose laws using the full legislative powers which came about as a result of the ‘yes’ vote in the March referendum.
