The National Assembly for Wales has retained certification to Level 5 of the Green Dragon Environmental Standard following an external audit from Groundwork Wales.

Groundwork Wales is a leading regeneration network building sustainable communities across Wales and are an accredited inspection body for the Green Dragon award.

For the sixth year running the National Assembly has been awarded the top level of achievement for sustainability.

“One of the Assembly Commission’s key strategic aims for the Fourth Assembly is ‘using resource wisely’,” said Presiding Officer, Rosemary Butler AM.

“This award highlights the good work being carried out by Members, Assembly staff and external contractors to ensure that we minimise, where possible, our impact on the local environment.

“Our long term aim is to make a sustainable Assembly fit for the business challenges of the future and each year we build on our progress to improve our resilience in the face of the unpredictable effects of climate change.

“This continued certification is testament to the hard work that is carried out to ensure we remain compliant and it drives our sustainable approach to how we manage and reduce our carbon footprint.”
