The Presiding Officer of the National Assembly for Wales, Dame Rosemary Butler AM, has been honoured for her dedication to St John Wales.

She was invested into the Order of St John at Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday 21 June.

The Order of St John is the historical side of St John internationally. It was established as a Royal Order of Chivalry in 1888, and The Queen is the Sovereign head. It sits alongside St John Wales the charity.

Dame Rosemary has been honoured for her assistance in getting first aid added to the PSE framework of the Welsh curriculum and for raising awareness of St John Wales in the Senedd.

“It is a great honour to be admitted to the Order of St John by Her Majesty,” the Presiding Officer said.

“St John Wales does such as fantastic job in providing first aid cover at major events, as well and teaching and promoting first aid across the country.”

St John Wales’s Chief Executive Keith Dunn said, “Around 100 of our supporters and volunteers were honoured at the ceremony, for their service and dedication to first aid.

“Dame Rosemary was honoured for her assistance in getting first aid added to the PSE framework of the Welsh curriculum and for raising awareness of the charity in the Senedd.

“Our aim is to have a first aider on every street in Wales and our supporters and volunteers are helping us achieve this.”
