Today (24 May), the Senedd has agreed which Members will sit on the committee that will examine the response to the Covid-19 pandemic in Wales.

Called the ‘Wales Covid-19 Inquiry Special Purpose Committee’, the cross-party committee's intention is to scrutinise some of the decisions made in Wales in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Committee will follow the UK Covid-19 Inquiry and focus on any gaps in the preparedness and response of the Welsh Government and other Welsh public bodies.

On 16 May, the Senedd voted in favour of establishing the special purpose Committee, following a proposal jointly submitted by the Welsh Government and the Welsh Conservatives.

Today, the Senedd agreed that Joyce Watson (Welsh Labour) and Tom Giffard (Welsh Conservatives) will become Co-Chairs of the Committee.

The other Members will be:

  • Vikki Howells (Welsh Labour),
  • Jack Sargeant (Welsh Labour),
  • Altaf Hussain (Welsh Conservatives),
  • Adam Price (Plaid Cymru).
