Chair: £25,000 per annum, non-pensionable, 4 days per month.
Non-Executive Member: £12,500 per annum, non-pensionable, 2-3 days per month.
Closing Date: 16 September 2022
Purpose of the posts:
The Wales Audit Office (WAO) Board has responsibility to develop the strategic direction of the WAO and ensure the functions of the organisation are delivered efficiently and cost-effectively.
The organisation employs around 280 staff, and the Auditor General is its Chief Executive and Accounting Officer. The Auditor General is a statutory office holder responsible for a range of audit functions including the audit of the accounts of most public bodies in Wales.
The Senedd is looking to appoint two Non-Executive Members and Chair to the Board. In accordance with legislative requirements the Chair will be appointed from the Non-Executive Members of the WAO and will therefore be appointed as a Non-Executive Member of the Board in the first instance.
In total the WAO Board comprises nine members, five of whom are non-executives (including the Chair) plus the Auditor General for Wales and three employees of the WAO.
The Non-Executive Members are appointed by the Welsh Parliament (‘the Senedd’).
One employee member is nominated by the Auditor General and the other two are appointed by the Non-Executive Members following a ballot of WAO staff.
