Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings

This Assembly recognises that the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings comes into force in the UK on 1 April 2009, and calls on the Welsh Assembly Government to make the Convention work in Wales.

The Council of Europe Convention is a comprehensive treaty which aims to:

• Prevent trafficking

• Protect the Human Rights of victims of trafficking

• Prosecute the traffickers.
