Public Holiday in Wales on St. David's Day

The National Assembly for Wales:

Notes the UK Government’s “Pre-Consultation on moving the May Day Bank Holiday – inviting suggestions for alternative dates and occasions”;

Notes St. Andrew’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day are public holidays established in law in Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively;

Believes that St. David’s Day is one of significant historical and cultural importance to Wales;

Notes the National Assembly has voted in favour of making St. David’s Day a public holiday;

Believes the Welsh Government should make representations to the above consultation calling for an additional public holiday on March 1st.
