Supporting the Bookstart Scheme in Wales

This Assembly:

1. Recognises the success of the Bookstart scheme in Wales over the past decade and more, and it’s achievements in encouraging parents and carers to read regularly with their children from an early age;

2. Notes the 2010 Impact Evaluation report which commended Bookstart’s role in ensuring that all babies and children have access to books from birth, no matter who they are or where they are from; and

3. Calls on the Welsh Government to continue funding Bookstart beyond 2012.
