Pupil Premium in Wales: the Pupil Deprivation Grant

This Assembly:

Congratulates the First Minister on the launch of the Pupil Deprivation Grant as a practical step towards improving the prospects of the poorest children.

Notes the similarity between the Welsh Government’s ‘pupil deprivation grant’ and the UK Government’s pupil premium.

Welcomes the strong leadership shown by the Deputy Prime Minister and the Leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats in negotiating the Pupil Premium in England and Wales, delivering headline manifesto commitments made in both the 2010 and 2011 elections.

Calls on the Government to rigorously assess the impact of the pupil deprivation grant on attainment levels.
