Police Helicopter Cuts

The National Assembly for Wales:

Rejects the proposal of the National Police Air Service (NPAS) to withdraw services from its Pembrey and Rhuddlan bases;

Believes that the decision will have serious consequences for policing operations and community safety in Wales;

Considers the decision to be a direct result of diminishing budgets from the UK Government;

Condemns the Westminster culture of austerity that impacts on public services in Wales; and

Calls on the UK Government to intervene and offer increased financial support to the NPAS in order to maintain police helicopter operations from Pembrey and Rhuddlan.
