HS2 Barnett Consequential

This Assembly:

Condemns the UK Government's Statement of Funding Policy, which gives Wales a 0 per cent consequential from HS2, while Scotland and Northern Ireland get 100 per cent;

Notes that the 0 per cent consequential from HS2 drastically reduces the Wales comparability percentage, ‎which was applied to calculate the overall DfT Barnett allocation;

Notes KPMG figures that show a loss to the Welsh economy of up to £178 million a year as a result of HS2; and

Calls on the Welsh Government to demand that the UK Government changes its Statement of Funding Policy to give Wales its fair share of consequential funding from HS2.
