Appointment of the new Director for Assembly Business

​Siwan Davies has been appointed as the new Director of Assembly Business at the National Assembly for Wales.

The director is responsible for delivering the support services necessary for Assembly Members to undertake their work in Plenary and Committees. This includes the clerking teams for committees and plenary, the research and legal services.  

Siwan has senior leadership experience and expertise across a range of parliamentary functions. She has held various roles, including at the National Assembly, the Parliament of Australia and the Queensland Parliament. The appointment was made following a rigorous competitive recruitment process.

Manon Antoniazzi, the Clerk and Chief Executive of the National Assembly said: “I am delighted that Siwan has accepted this role at a pivotal time in the legislative and constitutional framework for Wales. I have no doubt that her vast parliamentary experience will be a huge asset to us as our democracy enters its next transformational stage.”

Siwan Davies said: “This opportunity to join the leadership team in supporting a young, ambitious Parliament in the next phase of its development appeals to me greatly. I am looking forward to leading a dynamic and committed team to provide outstanding parliamentary support to the Assembly, now and into the future.”

Siwan will take up her post in January 2019.
